Easton
is located in Northampton County in east-central Pennsylvania. As of the 2010 census, the population was 26,800. Easton is one of the major cities of the Lehigh Valley, along with Allentown and Bethlehem. Easton is in the easternmost portion of the Valley, and sits at the confluence of the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers. Easton is the smaller of the 3 Lehigh Valley cities. The city is well known for being home to the Crayola crayons factory. It was also once home of the Dixie Cup Corporation, which was another well known consumer product. Today, it's home to two interactive children's museums. The city of Easton is divided into four sections: Historic Downtown, which lies directly to the north of the Lehigh River, the South Side, which lies south of the Lehigh River; and College Hill, a neighborhood on the hills to the north which is the home of Lafayette College. The boroughs of Wilson, West Easton, and Glendon are directly adjacent to the city. Attractions in Easton include the Centre Square, which is home to a Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, which is in memory of those veterans killed during the American Civil War. The Peace Candle, which is a candle-like structure is assembled and disassembled each year atop the monument for the Christmas holiday season. The city of Easton is about 60 miles from Philadelphia and New York City is about 70 miles to the east.

East Central Pennsylvania experiences a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and muggy, fall and spring are generally mild, and winters are cold with snow although the snowfall is variable. Some winters bring only a light dusting of snow, while others bring several major snowstorms. The average annual snowfall is 19.3 inches. Precipitation is generally spread throughout the year, with eight to eleven wet days per month. In summer, it's common to have heat waves accompanied by high humidity and thunderstorms. It is possible to experience severe weather in Pennsylvania in the form of blizzards in the wintertime and tornados in the summer, although these type of storms are not the norm.
