Blakeslee
is a small town of approximately 3,500 residents in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. It's situated in the Pocono Mountains region of the state. Monroe County is home to East Stroudsburg University and is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. Retail growth in recent years has been phenomenal with lots of shopping centers in the area. Blakeslee is near Long Pond, which is well known for being home to the Pocono Raceway, a track which hosts two annual NASCAR Sprint Cup races, as well as the Pocono 500 and the Pennsylvania 500. As part of the beautiful Poconos, Blakeslee is near seven state parks, seventeen state game lands and one national park - the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Towards the southern end of the Poconos is the Appalachian Trail. In autumn the Poconos are known for its' breathtaking colors, which makes it great for scenic drives and hiking. Numerous ski resorts are located in the area, campgrounds are plentiful, gaming is also available at two resorts in the Poconos region. Other activities include mountain biking, fishing, boating, horseback riding, golf, snowboarding, snowmobiling, white water rafting, kayaking and much more. The Poconos has always been Pennsylvania's most popular tourist destination, known for its' romantic resorts for honeymooners.

East Central Pennsylvania experiences a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and muggy, fall and spring are generally mild, and winters are cold with snow although the snowfall is variable. Some winters bring only a light dusting of snow, while others bring several major snowstorms. The average annual snowfall is 19.3 inches. Precipitation is generally spread throughout the year, with eight to eleven wet days per month. In summer, it's common to have heat waves accompanied by high humidity and thunderstorms. It is possible to experience severe weather in Pennsylvania in the form of blizzards in the wintertime and tornados in the summer, although these type of storms are not the norm.
