Eagles-Mere is the name of a borough and lake located in Sullivan County in the northeast mountains of Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the population of the community was 153 residents. Called "one of the last unspoiled vacation spots in the east," Eagles Mere is a lovely village, home to a number of specialty shops, an old-fashioned "sweets shop," a museum, an arts gallery, a general store, a well-known bookstore, a golf club and several bed and breakfasts and country inns. In addition, cottage rentals are available around the picturesque lake. Eagles Mere is a town of white-picket fences and tree-lined streets, that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Fine dining is available at the Eagles Mere Inn and the Crestmont Inn. There are many outdoor activities available around Eagles Mere Lake and the surrounding area. Engage in swimming, boating, fishing, nature hikes, golf, and more. Eagles Mere is also home to a toboggan slide that provides endless fun for children in the wintertime. In addition to all of this, Eagles Mere is host to a 4th of July Parade and Celebration and Music in the Mountains, a unique program that offers young musicians the opportunity to study chamber music in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Eagles Mere is located 33 miles north of Bloomsburg and 160 miles from Philadelphia.
