Warfordsburg
is a small village, designated as a populated place, located in Fulton County in south-central Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1776 by Joseph Warford, who was deeded 100 acres of land on which he laid out a village that was to become the village of Warfordsburg. He also opened a tavern at the site, but the building that housed the old tavern was destroyed by fire in 1947. The village of Warfordsburg lies just north of the Mason-Dixon line in Bethel Township off Interstate 70 and is easily accessible to U.S. Route 40, which is the Historic National Road. Attractions near Warfordsburg include Cowans Gap State Park, which features a 42-acre lake, swimming, fishing, boating, ice-skating, hiking, cross-country skiing and camping. Winter skiing and snowboarding is available at nearby Whitetail Resort. An 18-hole golf course is laid out among rolling wooded hills, about five minutes from the Fulton County town of McConnellsburg. Also in Fulton County near Warfordsburg is the historic Burnt Cabins Grist Mill, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is also the site of Ye Olde Mill Campground.

South Central Pennsylvania experiences four seasons, although there are variations depending on the area and altitude. Summers tend to be hot and humid, while winters are cold with snow; the mountainous areas are typically cooler in summer, and receive a lot more snow in the wintertime. July is usually the warmest month with temperatures averaging 80°F (27°C), although the southern part of the state is often hotter. The coldest time of year is January. Spring and autumn are the best times to travel, as they are moderate in temperature, with less humidity. Peak tornado season in the eastern U.S. is usually between May and July.
