Lock-Haven
is located in Clinton County in central Pennsylvania. The city is situated near the confluence of the West Branch Susquehanna River and Bald Eagle Creek. As of the 2000 census, the population of Lake Haven was 9,149. It is part of the Williamsport-Lock Haven combined statistical area. The town of Lock Haven was first established as a logging town and also a stopping point for travelers along the river or the West Branch Canal. There are three sites on the National Register of Historic Places in Lock Haven. The first is Memorial Park Site, which is a significant pre-European archaeological find. Second is Heisey House, a Victorian-era museum. Lastly, Water Street District is an area of Lock Haven that has a mixture of 368 19th and 20th century architecture. The structures include homes and churches on Water Street, West Main and West Church Streets. Also, all of Lock Haven's business district is located in the historic district. The aforementioned Heisey House is a Gothic Revival-style building that now houses the Heisey Museum. It is the oldest brick building in the town. Over the years, the structure has served as a farmhouse, tavern, doctor's office and home to several prominent families. Lock Haven is also home to the Piper Aviation Museum. The Piper Aircraft Corporation maintained headquarters in Lock Haven from 1937 until its closing in 1984.

Central Pennsylvania experiences a climate with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and muggy, fall and spring are pleasant and mild, and winters are cold with snow. Snowfall is variable with some winters bringing only a light dusting of snow, while others bring several major snowstorms. The average annual snowfall is 19.3 inches. Precipitation is generally spread throughout the year, with eight to eleven wet days per month. In summer, it's common to have heat waves accompanied by high humidity and thunderstorms. It is possible to experience severe weather in Pennsylvania in the form of blizzards in the wintertime and tornados in the summer.
