Tyler-Hill
is the site of a summer camp in the Poconos of northeast Pennsylvania. The camp was developed on the Wayne County Country Club grounds in the 1950s. Tyler Hill Camp contains 226 acres and features two lakes; Silver Lake and Laurel Lake. Recreational activities at the lake include swimming, boating, waterskiing, tennis, golf, plus there are softball/baseball fields, basketball courts and a roller hockey rink. Tyler Hill Camp is part of the popular Poconos, which is a well-known recreation destination for visitors all around the northeast United States, but especially those from the cities of Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and New York City. The Poconos encompasses the Delaware State Forest, seven state parks, seventeen state game lands, and one national park - The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The Poconos contains over 80 percent of the state's tourist resorts. Toward the southern end of the Poconos is the Blue Mountain Ridge and the Appalachian Trail. Numerous ski resorts are in the area, and offer downhill skiing, snowboarding, and sledding. Other attractions near Tyler Hill include gambling at the Mount Airy Casino Resort, harness racing at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and the Pocono Raceway, which is a major auto racing track.

Tyler Hill Weather & Climate

The Catskill Mountains has a climate with many variations depending on the elevation. There is a totally different winter in the mountains and the higher plateaus over 1,000 feet. There, the grip of winter is strong and steady, and above freezing temperatures are less common. Average January temperatures are three to four degrees colder at elevations from one to two thousand feet and over seven degrees colder at elevations above two thousand feet. Snowfall is fairly uniform during the month of January in the Catskills. The third week of July is generally the hottest time of the year in the Catskills, and rainfall during the warm months is usually confined to a few days rather than spread throughout the month. September has warm days, cool nights and fog at dawn over the Hudson valley. By October the hills are a kaleidoscope of color, and the first hard freeze is usually at the end of October.
